Change Your Job Description
How you describe your job is a biggy as far as saving money on insurance is concerned. Are you a "cook"? You'd better call yourself "kitchen staff" and you'll save £98 on average. "Music teachers" pay more than just "teachers" (£86) and "creative directors" can pay £300 more than "marketing managers".
If you are a homemaker/unworking parent, don't describe yourself as unemployed - your insurance could rise fivefold if you do. Although if you are receiving benefits which require you to find work or you are actively seeking employment then you'd better describe yourself as unemployed - but be prepared for a 500% increase in your premium.
Make sure you describe your job correctly though - if you misrepresent it then your vehicle insurance can be void.
